Getting a good job can be tough. Often, the difference between the person who gets hired for the job and the runner up is minute. One of the things that can help you get ahead of the competition is a solid resume. Here are some great resume writing tips to put you on the right track.

Proper Way to Write A Resume

Professional presentation is key. Make sure the resume is neatly typed on high-quality paper. Make the grammar and spelling are accurate. If necessary, have a professional look it over. If nothing else, be sure to run a spell check.

Include all skills and experience that could be considered relevant. This seems obvious, but it is important to include all of your relevant skills and experience, not just the typical stuff. Most employers will be receiving multiple resumes for the same position. Its important that your resume looks different from the rest, at least in some way. Include all of the obvious qualifications, too. You don't want to seem inferior, but try include some that will make you stand apart.

Be clear about past experience. Don't bother to inflate past job titles to seem more significant. In some cases it may be effective. But for the most part, an employer knows that when a resume says "head agent of sanitation" it means janitor. At the same time, be professional. Use the proper, professional, terms for your past positions without being silly.

On the same note, do not lie flat-out about past experience either. If you didn't have a certain job, and you say that you did, the odds are against you. Some one may find out, and you will suffer the consequences. Even if you get the job initially, you will end up worse off if this happens.

Be willing to negotiate on salary and exact position. If you are flexible, it is more likely that the business to which you're applying can find a use for you. Also, if you're willing to negotiate salary, it is more likely that you will get the job over someone who is less flexible. Don't give in so much that you are being under paid or underutilized, but be willing to make some compromises.

Follow these tips that have been listed above and you should find yourself above the competition. A solid resume that follows the five tips above is a good start for any job hunt. Good luck to you.
